Eu acho esse álbum extremamente bom e coeso, tudo na medida. Foi a primeira vez do Depeche Mode trabalhando com o Flood em um álbum completo. Ele vinha de produções para o Erasure, U2, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Nine Inch Nails... e foi ele quem deu esse toque mais rock+synth pro álbum. A banda também passava por um período meio conturbado com o vocalista Dave Gahan aumentando o consumo de drogas, o Andrew Fletcher enfrentando uma depressão pela morte da irmã, e isso tudo reflete no tom mais pesado e soturno das músicas, onde muitas delas vão falar de prazeres mas no fundo sempre com um sentimento de culpa. E pra mim é isso que torna esse álbum tão bom e tão atemporal. Um dos meus álbuns favoritos de todos os tempos.
