Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most common questions about ChartFM.
What is ChartFM?
ChartFM is a social network for people who love music and want to organize what they're listening to. Each user builds personal weekly charts with the songs that stood out that week, and the sum of all published charts forms the Global 100, the community's collective ranking.
How do I create my first chart?
Click 'Create Chart' in the side menu or go to /create. Search for songs by track or artist name, add up to 100 of them to your list, set the position order, and publish. The full walkthrough is in the How to create your weekly chart guide.
Do I have to pay to use ChartFM?
No. Creating an account, publishing charts, following other users, and joining communities and the Cup are all free on ChartFM.
How does Global 100 scoring work?
Each position in your personal chart is worth points toward the Global 100, on a geometric curve: 1st place is worth 1,000 points and each following position is worth 95% of the previous one. Points from all charts published that week are summed per song to form the ranking. The full formula and the position-to-points table are in the How scoring works guide.
Can I edit a chart after publishing it?
Yes, with one limit. A chart counts towards the Global 100 until Wednesday at 07:00 (Brasília time), one hour before that week's ranking is published. Once it is out, the result stays as it is: editing your chart changes your own page, and no longer changes that week's ranking.
Can my chart have any music genre?
Yes. There's no restriction on genre, era, or language in personal charts. You can freely mix styles (from sertanejo to K-pop in the same list) because each user decides on their own what goes into their own chart.
What is the ChartFM Cup?
The Cup is ChartFM's knockout tournament between artists, played out as a bracket and driven by community votes in each matchup, a competition that runs alongside the Global 100. The full rules, with groups, phases, and tiebreak criteria, are at /copa/regras.
How do I import my Last.fm or Spotify history?
On the chart creation screen (/create), use the Last.fm or Spotify import button to automatically fill your list with the most-played songs from those accounts. Before importing, you need a Last.fm username set in /settings or your Spotify account connected. The import only fills the list, you still review and publish it manually. The full walkthrough is in the How to import your Last.fm or Spotify history guide.
Are my charts public to everyone?
By default, yes: your profile and your charts are visible to anyone on ChartFM. If you'd rather have more privacy, you can make your account private in settings, from then on, only people you approve can see your content.
How do communities work?
Communities are themed groups where users with similar tastes gather. Each community has its own feed and its own collective chart, automatically built from the sum of members' personal charts that week. You can join as many communities as you want, and any user can create a new one.
Is there a limit to how many charts I can publish per week?
Yes, one weekly chart per period: the system blocks a second publication for the same week ('You've already published a chart this week'). The measured week runs Monday to Sunday and closes on Sunday at 23:59, and you can still publish that week's chart until Wednesday at 07:00 (Brasília time). You can also create a chart for a past week, as a historical record.
